CPRA is pleased to be working with the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (S.P.R.A.) and the City of Saskatoon this year to bring you this fabulous event in Saskatoon, a city that is celebrating its 100th birthday this year.
This year’s Conference theme, Healthy Communities… Cultivating the Vision is centered on the Canadian Vision for Parks and Recreation that was released at the 2005 Conference. This Conference will be an event offering multiple opportunities for professional development, networking and reconnecting with friends and colleagues. Come prepared to be challenged, to be inspired and to be empowered by the many keynote and session speakers we have assembled!
Please join us at the CPRA Annual General Meeting on October 20 to hear what we have accomplished in the last year and provide input towards the future directions and focus of the National Association. Don’t miss the Presidents’ Luncheon and Awards Ceremony as we celebrate the amazing work practitioners do in the field of parks and recreation. And finally, a special thanks to all the volunteers from across Canada and from the City of Saskatoon who have committed a tremendous amount of hours to put this event together. It promises to be an exciting few days that will leave you energized and proud of the sector we are all a part of and live every day. “I look forward to seeing you in Saskatoon in October!”

A Message From the Premier Of Saskatchewan

Lorne Calvert,
Premier, Province of Saskatchewan

On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, I am pleased to offer warm greetings to all of those attending the 2006 National Parks and Recreation Conference and Trade Show.
This convention will provide delegates with an opportunity to discuss recent activities and initiatives, and will give presenters and trade show exhibitors the chance to share their knowledge, goods and services. I know that this will be an educational and exciting event for everyone involved.
This year's theme is Healthy Communities... Cultivating the Vision. Our government understands the importance of promoting healthy communities, and was pleased to recently provide additional support to Saskatchewan recreational facilities through funding to our municipalities.
When taking a break from the Show, I would invite all visitors to Saskatoon to take in some of the many attractions our beautiful City of Bridges has to offer. I am certain there is something here for everyone to enjoy. As well, in 2006, Saskatoon commemorates its 100th anniversary as a city, and we invite you to help us celebrate "Our Time to Shine!"
Again, welcome, and best wishes for a wonderful conference.
Welcome To Saskatoon
