Your Invitation
On behalf of the National Conference and Trade Show Steering Committee and the City of Ottawa Host and Program Planning Committees, I would like to welcome those in the parks and recreation service, practitioners, professionals and volunteers, to the parks and recreation event of the year…. Canada’s National Parks and Recreation Conference and Trade Show.
A small army of volunteers and professionals has been working hard to ensure the 2007 Conference and Trade Show is an event to remember. Keynote speakers have been carefully selected to inspire you as individuals and to kick-start each day. Sessions will be on current topics and trends to prepare you better for service delivery.
We come to learn and make connections in our chosen field, whether it is facilities planning and management, recreation programming and delivery, parks planning and management, or a related professional field. This conference is designed for you.
Ottawa is a lovely city and especially so as our Nation’s Capital is situated on the Ottawa River with Quebec on the other side. You have the opportunity to visit both our founding cultures plus historic venues such as the Parliament Buildings, the ByWard Market, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and the National Gallery of Canada.
Enjoy the fall colours that surround us, as Ottawa welcomes you to Connect in the Capital!

Chair, National Conference Steering Committee

Welcome From Parks and Recreation Ontario
On behalf of Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO), it is my
pleasure to invite you to Canada's 2007 National Parks and Recreation
Conference and Trade Show in our nation’s capital, Ottawa. It is an honour
for PRO to co-host this prestigious conference in partnership with the
Canadian Parks and Recreation Association and the City of Ottawa.
This year’s theme, Connecting in the Capital, emphasizes the goal of bringing together the best and the brightest in our field to celebrate and explore exciting programs and new initiatives from across the country. The conference is designed to maximize the opportunities for delegates to connect with leaders and colleagues and enhance their skills through varied educational experiences that address current priorities in our sector, such as infrastructure, volunteerism, inclusion and access, development for children and youth and much more.
When sessions finish for the day, there will also be the
chance to experience some of the cultural and recreational attractions in
beautiful Ottawa. This conference promises to be invigorating, insightful
and innovative – and I hope to meet you at the sessions and socials!
