SUMMER WORK EXPERIENCE GREEN JOBS INITIATIVE

INFORMATION UPDATE (February 26, 2018)

Wage subsidies will be available for Summer 2018 and Summer 2019 for Canadian municipalities, Indigenous communities and other sector organizations to hire Youth for Green Jobs

The Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA), on behalf of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), will administer wage subsidies (up to 50%) to support the creation of 1,000 new green jobs for youth in the summers of 2018 and 2019 (500 per year).  The maximum wage subsidy offered through this program will be $5,712.00 for each youth/job.

 

The first application deadline for this program is today, February 26, 2018, 11:59 pm PST Successful applicants will be notified by March 5, 2018. Up to 300 jobs will be funded in this first round.

Applicants who are unsuccessful in the first round will be contacted by their Regional Project Managers and may be reconsidered for funding in the second round.

The second application deadline for this program is March 12, 2018. Successful applicants will be notified by March 26, 2018. All remaining program funding for summer 2018 will be distributed after this round.  Additional funding will be available for summer 2019.

This CPRA effort is part of the overall Government of Canada commitment outlined in the 2017 Federal Budget that committed to creating 15,000 new green jobs for young Canadians.
