2025 Pre-Budget Submission
CPRA has submitted 3 recommendations to the Standing Committee on Finance in advance of Budget 2025.
The recreation and parks sector significantly enhances the quality of life for people in Canada. Our dedicated professionals provide services and manage essential infrastructure that nurtures healthy, vibrant, and resilient communities. Our sector enhances citizen wellbeing while also contributing to a thriving economy and, increasingly, providing support during times of crisis.
Despite the evident contributions the sector makes to a wide range of issues that cut across Canadian society, we are often an afterthought in the public policy discussion. This is due to a lack of understanding of the broad impact our sector has on issues like housing, mental and physical health promotion, reducing burden on our healthcare system, public safety, crisis preparedness, the integration of new Canadians, and the creation of meaningful employment opportunities, especially for youth. This misunderstanding, exacerbated by the artificial barriers we have created in funding our sector, presents significant challenges that require swift, thoughtful, and strategic intervention to ensure we can deliver maximum value to Canadians.
CPRA's 2025 Pre-Budget Submission calls on the federal government to invest in three key areas:
- Building a Healthier Future
- Increasing Physical Activity in Canada
- Increasing Workforce Readiness
These investments are crucial for enhancing the quality of life in our communities, supporting citizen wellbeing, and strengthening our economy.
On November 5th, we’ll be advocating for these priorities on Parliament Hill. We encourage you to add your name in support of these important advocacy efforts.
