The Canadian Fitness and Lifestyle Research Institute (CFLRI) and the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA), in conjunction with Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, are excited to announce the launch of the SPAR Impact Calculators for both organizations and projects. These dynamic new tools will empower communities, governments at all levels, sector organizations, and industry stakeholders to calculate the monetary value of the economic and health impacts of SPAR for organizations/projects across Canada.

About our presenters:
Mike Roma is the Past President of the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association and the current chair of the Canadian Training Network for Parks and Recreation. He has served numerous roles in parks and recreation sector leadership. Mike is also managing partner at RC Strategies, a consulting firm focused on parks and recreation. Throughout his 22-year career, he has constantly been faced with the challenge or quantify the benefit of parks and recreation in communities across Canada.
Dr. John C. Spence spends most of his time relaxing in the Sedentary Living Laboratory in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta. His research focuses on both the benefits and determinants of physical activity and how physical inactivity and sedentary behaviour influence health. More recently, he has focused on (a) factors that impact mobility and active transportation; and (b) the role of policy initiatives such as tax credits for promoting physical activity.
He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (FCAHS), an Adjunct Researcher with the Canadian Fitness and Lifestyle Research Institute (CFLRI), and serves on research advisory committees for ParticipACTION.
